Fast Company has selected CLUES® from a pool of over 2,000 entries in the AI + Data category of the 2019 World Changing Ideas Awards.

CLUES is our proprietary software platform that helps our engineers turn vast building data sets into actionable energy efficiency upgrades — then continuously monitors performance to turn energy savings into guaranteed financial value for building owners.August 13, 2019 Update:https://demo.singlemaltstudios.com/carbonlighthouse/energy-efficiency-proptech-patent/CLUES earned an honorable mention among Fast Company’s World Changing Ideas, a major annual award honoring businesses, policies, projects and concepts that offer innovative solutions to the issues facing humanity. We’re convinced climate change is the single most important issue facing humanity — and that we can only address it if we make it highly profitable, as our Co-Founder and CEO Brenden Millstein wrote during the 2018 Global Climate Action Summit:

“We live in a capitalist society, and markets matter. Unchecked capitalism drives many of the challenges exacerbating our climate conundrum, but aligning environmental goals with market forces can help save the planet. The challenge lies in redirecting capitalism’s focus on financial growth toward a more climate-conscious direction.”

Some 40 percent of greenhouse gas emissions in the United States come from buildings, and our engineers developed CLUES to remove these emissions from the climate equation. With about $100 billion in Efficiency Reserves — wasted energy spend that can be eliminated using today’s technologies — in U.S. commercial buildings, the business case for profit-driven carbon elimination is clear.CLUES is the engine behind Efficiency Production, our process for helping clients tap into their efficiency reserves to generate lasting financial and environmental value. We’re thrilled that Fast Company’s cross-sector panel of judges has honored CLUES for its potential in creating positive impact — but for us, the best evidence lies with the building owners who already place their trust in our revenue-generating energy solution. To date, we’ve worked in 700 buildings across the United States, driving guaranteed financial value to boost net operating income for building owners like Alexander & Baldwin, Montage, Kilroy Realty Corporation and Hawaiian Airlines, among others, while eliminating the carbon equivalent of seven power plants.

While we’ve got about 50,000 more power plants left to go, we’re confident that our ever-evolving CLUES will help us fulfill our mission to stop climate change by making it easy and profitable for building owners to eliminate carbon emissions from wasted energy.
